What Polestar roadside covers
Polestar’s program runs through Volvo Cars’ roadside network. Coverage is included on a new Polestar for a set period and runs out after that. The contracted vendor can jump a dead 12V, swap a tire, deliver fuel for a gas car, or tow to a Polestar service center.
The program does not publish hours as a customer promise. Dispatch depends on the vendor’s truck availability in your county. Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, Kane, and McHenry counties all have contracted coverage, but the wait is whatever the dispatch queue says when you call.
What Polestar roadside does not cover
An empty high-voltage pack is the gap. The contracted vendor does not bring a Level 2 source. They bring a flatbed. The car moves to a charger or a service center. The driver pays the tow miles past the included distance.
A newer Polestar 2 with a lithium 12V may or may not get a jump on site. The vendor technician may say no and tow instead. Either way, the car leaves the curb on a flatbed.
How a local 240V boost fits
The independent operator we connect you with brings a 240V Level 2 truck with CCS as the native plug. The operator typically adds 10 to 20 miles of range in 15 to 30 minutes of charging. That is enough to drive home or to a working charger.
A typical call is a Polestar 2 that ran the pack down on the Eisenhower (I-290). The owner parks at a charging site that turns out to be full. The local operator pulls up, opens the charge port with a 12V jump if needed, and starts a 240V charge. Charge Pro does not set the price. The operator quotes before starting.
When you would still call Polestar first
Call Polestar first if your car is in warranty work, if the dash shows a high-voltage fault, or if the pack will not accept any charge from any source. Those cases go to a service center, not to a roadside operator. The Polestar app under Roadside is where you start.
