Rivian still answers the dispatch line. The contracted vendor brings a flatbed, not a 240V truck. An empty pack here needs the local line for a mobile boost. The two services do different things.
How to reach Rivian roadside
The Rivian app has a Roadside button under the assistance menu. The line also shows in the in-car system on R1T and R1S models. Calling that number routes to the national dispatch, which sends the contracted vendor for the county.
Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, Kane, and McHenry counties all have contracted coverage. The response time depends on the truck queue. A 12V jump or a tire swap falls inside what the vendor can do on site. A dead pack or a stranded car on a shoulder usually goes on a flatbed.
What the Rivian number does not do
The Rivian number does not bring a Level 2 source. The contracted vendor does not carry a mobile EV charger. A Rivian on empty at a Lincoln Park garage or stuck on the Eisenhower shoulder is going to a charger or a service center on a flatbed. The tow miles still have to be paid.
The vendor also does not bring a replacement lithium 12V for an in-warranty Rivian. The contracted vendor can jump it once but cannot swap it on site. A dealer service appointment is the next step.
How the local line fits

Call Rivian first if your car is in warranty work, if the dash shows a high-voltage fault, or if the pack will not accept any charge from any source. The dealer path is the right one for those cases.
Call the local line first if the screen shows a 12V warning, if the pack is just low, or if you are stuck in a place a flatbed will struggle to reach. A downtown garage with low ceilings or a private lot with limited access is hard for a flatbed.
